Description
Our goal at Pickleland is to build the best facility ever created. As our COO, you will be a critical contributor to help us build the foundation of Pickleland #1 so that we can grow this brand into many locations around the globe.
You will be responsible for creating a great pickleball experience, deal with vendors and partners, and lead the team towards our desired outcomes. This role requires strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and a passion for the sport of pickleball.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pickleball
- Create and oversee implementation of all pickleball programming including open play, tournaments, and leagues.
- Develop partnerships with brands, and influencers in the pickleball space.
- Vendors
- Select the right vendors that will enhance the pickleball experience of our facility while keeping costs low.
- Operational
- Create Operating Manual with SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for all tasks to be performed at Pickleland.
- Create Employee Handbook.
- Build marketing strategies to attract new members, corporate events and tournaments.
- Leadership
- Hire, interview and train the team (front desk, team leads, coaches, etc.)
- Foster a positive and growth-oriented team environment.Provide employees with supportive and constructive feedback whenever necessary
- Facilities Management
- Implement, monitor and ensure adherence to company safety protocols, cleanliness standards, and facility maintenance.
- Manage inventory, supplies, and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and timely replenishment.
- Evaluate vendors as needed.
- Pickleball activities
- Oversee court scheduling, tournament planning, and event coordination.
- Oversee staffing and logistics of tournaments and events.
- Marketing & Sales
- Promote the facility and create win-win opportunities with other brands, ambassadors and organizers.
- Bring net-new revenue opportunities such as sponsorships, tournaments, etc.
- Customer Service
- Ensure we have an NPS of 80+
- Maintain positive relationships with members, addressing concerns and feedback promptly and professionally.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of playing pickleball
- Deep knowledge of pickleball rules, regulations, and industry trends.
- Strong business acumen, capable of making effective decisions to further the overall business goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sports Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of management experience in a recreational or sports facility setting.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Strong financial management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Customer service oriented.
- Create and maintain connections with local businesses, pickleballers and potential partners.
- Proficient in Google Suite, Slack, and facility management software
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Bending, Stooping, Lifting, Pulling occasionally.
- Capacity to work for extended periods in noisy environment.
