Sap’s: Pioneering Healthy Hydration for Active Lifestyles with a Retro Vibe

We recently caught up with the team behind Sap’s Original. From navigating personal challenges to a passion for promoting healthy hydration, they shared insights into their journey and how the brand stands out in the market. Here’s what they had to say about Sap’s Original’s unique approach to supporting active lifestyles and its commitment to quality and innovation.

Tell us about your company. How did you come up with this idea? 

Sap’s: After being in CPG hydration for a number of years, I saw thousands of customers looking for healthy and effective hydration options to support their active lifestyles.  They weren’t finding that solution in hydration drinks loaded with sugar and artificial junk, which led to the creation of Sap’s.

How did you promote your company in the early days?

Sap’s: Still to this day, the best promotion for Sap’s is showing up where customers are dehydrated and in need of replenishment and handing out cans.  When someone experiences a Sap’s in that moment they are hooked.

How did you decide on your brand’s name and logo design?

Sap’s: We wanted a name and feel that felt retro and vintage, harkening back to a time when our food system wasn’t marketing and selling unhealthy chemicals and artificial everything.  Sap’s is a throwback to the original sports drink that was actually highly effective and was created to Support Active People.

What challenges did you face when first launching your products?

Sap’s: In food and beverage, you face every challenge you can think of when you get started.  Having experience helps, but so many things come up that are completely unpredictable and require you to problem-solve on the spot and react quickly.  We’ve faced everything from product issues to obtaining funding to educating the consumer on the benefits of Sap’s. Every challenge has made us a better brand because of our growth-oriented mindset.

How do you differentiate your hydration products from other brands in the market?

Sap’s: Sap’s is the healthiest, most effective hydration product in the market because of its electrolyte makeup and functional ingredients that help with recovery and living a healthy lifestyle.  Our brand is not hyper sports focused, nor medicinal and can be consumed regularly for those who are intense or those who just like to get outside and have a good time with friends.

Are there any fun/memorable stories about your company that you want to share?

Sap’s: Getting the call from Nike to replace Gatorade was a personal highlight.  An iconic brand like Nike, which our team has admired since we were kids, choosing us as their hydration solution was incredible.

How do you see your pickleball brand evolving in the next 5 years as the sport continues to grow? 

Sap’s: We are always focused on developing new and better drinks that people can more easily enjoy in every setting. We continue to listen to our customer to best serve them in their journey of living an active lifestyle.
