Tucked on a hilltop at 7800 Johnny Morris Rd, the Austin Tennis and Pickleball Center (ATC) has quietly become one of the city’s busiest public spots to get a pickleball game in. With 10 lighted tennis courts and 8 lighted pickleball courts, it draws a steady mix of players almost any night of the week.
If you’re trying to figure out how to actually get on a court here, here’s the rundown on the courts, the conditions, and how open play and leagues work.
Court Features
ATC now lists 8 permanent pickleball courts, part of the facility’s rebrand to the Austin Tennis and Pickleball Center as it leaned into the growing demand for pickleball in Austin. Courts are grouped in side-by-side sections enclosed by fencing. Conditions vary, so it’s worth checking the venue’s current setup before you head out.

Location and Conditions
Situated on a hill, ATC can be affected by windy conditions. On particularly windy days, the ball flight can be unpredictable, and dust and dirt may accumulate on the courts. These factors should be considered when planning your playtime.
How to Play at Austin Tennis Center
Open Play
Open play at ATC is organized through TeamReach, an app that allows clubs and organizations to post events and play schedules. To join the ATC open play group, download TeamReach and enter the code “ATCPickleball.” This group provides information on available play times, with each session lasting 2 hours and accommodating 24 players. The cost is $4 cash or $5 card, and players must check in at the office before heading to the courts. It is important to RSVP only if you are sure you can attend to ensure enough players show up.
Leagues
ATC hosts weekly leagues organized by Austin Pickleball Cooperative:
- Women’s Doubles: Mondays
- 3.5+ Co-ed Doubles: Sundays
- 4.0+ Co-ed Doubles: Tuesdays
These leagues are recorded in DUPR, offering players the opportunity to participate in ranked matches. Due to high demand, there is often a multi-month waitlist for the co-ed leagues, and proof of the minimum required DUPR score is necessary to join the waitlist.
If you’re interested in playing DUPR matches and leagues without a long wait, you can fill out the Austin Pickleball Cooperative DUPR League interest form to receive more information about upcoming DUPR days and leagues.
Overall Experience
Austin Tennis Center is a top-notch facility for pickleball in Austin, with multiple open play sessions each week and a diverse range of players across various skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, ATC provides a welcoming and competitive environment to enjoy pickleball.
