FREQUENTLY ASKED

Quick answers, real talk.

What is a pickleball clinic, and how is it different from a private lesson? +
A clinic is a small-group coaching session built around one focus — third-shot drop, dinks, serve-and-return, transition zone, and so on. You drill the skill, get hands-on feedback, then apply it in live game play, all sorted by level so you're with players close to your own. Clinics run $30–$60 and are a great way to meet other players. A private lesson is 1-on-1, fully customized, and costs $80–$150/hour — best for fixing a specific habit fast or prepping for a tournament.
Which pickleball clinic should I start with? +
Never played? Start with the Free Intro Class — no paddle, no charge. From there, Pickleball 101 covers the rules, scoring, the serve, and the dink. Not sure of your level? Use your DUPR if you have one (2.0 = brand new, 2.5 = can rally, 3.0 = recreational, 3.5 = solid intermediate, 4.0+ = advanced), or ask our front desk and we'll place you in the right clinic.
What skills do the clinics cover? +
Each session is themed — third-shot drop, dink battles, volleys and put-aways, serve & return depth, stacking and switching, and live game flow. Beginner clinics focus on court positioning, scoring, serving, shot selection, and footwork; intermediate and advanced clinics move into drop shots, rally consistency, and offensive/defensive tactics.
Who coaches the pickleball clinics? +
Our pro coaches all lead clinics across every level — from first-timers to 4.0+ — as the schedule needs: Coach Kasia (DUPR 4.9, Selkirk-sponsored pro and former D1 tennis player), Coach Katie (DUPR 4.7), and Coach Jack (DUPR 5.3), our highest-rated coach.
How much do clinics cost, and do I need to be a member? +
Group clinics are $30–$60 per session; private lessons $80–$150/hour; the free intro session is free. Clinics run every week and are open to the public — no membership required (members just get priority registration). Book online through PlayByPoint or the Pickleland app; cancel 24+ hours ahead for full credit.
What should I bring? Do you have loaner paddles? +
Bring athletic shoes (court shoes ideal — tennis or volleyball shoes work great) and clothes you can move in. We provide brand-new balls, and loaner paddles (Selkirk + JOOLA) are available to rent for $5 (basic) or $8 (pro).
Where are the clinics held — and are they indoor? +
All our pickleball clinics in Austin are held indoors at 21427 Martin Lane, Pflugerville, TX 78660 — about 20 minutes north of downtown Austin via I-35 or 130 Toll, with free parking out front. All 9 courts are climate-controlled to 72° year-round, so there are no rain delays and no 105° summer sessions — you can train all year. Google Maps directions →
Do you offer junior or kids' pickleball clinics? +
Yes — our Junior Academy serves ages 8–14 with weekly drills + match play, and we run a 5-day Junior Summer Camp in June. School-break clinics drop several times a year.
