Austin Tennis Center (ATC) is one of the largest public tennis and pickleball facility in Austin, located at 7800 Johnny Morris Rd. The center features 10 tournament lighted tennis courts and 8 lighted pickleball courts, making it a go-to destination for pickleball enthusiasts in the city.
Court Features
The 8 lighted pickleball courts at ATC are actually junior tennis courts with added pickleball lines. This adaptation has helped meet the growing demand for pickleball courts in Austin. The courts are slightly cracked and not well maintained but they do the job. Each section of the facility includes two side-by-side courts enclosed by fencing.
There is a small nuance regarding the net height at ATC. The nets are set up for junior tennis, measuring 33 inches tall across the court, slightly shorter than the official pickleball net height of 34 inches in the middle and 36 inches at the sides. This difference is minor and typically does not affect gameplay significantly.

Location and Conditions
Situated on a hill, ATC can be affected by windy conditions. On particularly windy days, the ball flight can be unpredictable, and dust and dirt may accumulate on the courts. These factors should be considered when planning your playtime.
How to Play at Austin Tennis Center
Open Play
Open play at ATC is organized through TeamReach, an app that allows clubs and organizations to post events and play schedules. To join the ATC open play group, download TeamReach and enter the code “ATCPickleball.” This group provides information on available play times, with each session lasting 2 hours and accommodating 24 players. The cost is $4 cash or $5 card, and players must check in at the office before heading to the courts. It is important to RSVP only if you are sure you can attend to ensure enough players show up.
Leagues
ATC hosts weekly leagues organized by Austin Pickleball Cooperative:
- Women’s Doubles: Mondays
- 3.5+ Co-ed Doubles: Sundays
- 4.0+ Co-ed Doubles: Tuesdays
These leagues are recorded in DUPR, offering players the opportunity to participate in ranked matches. Due to high demand, there is often a multi-month waitlist for the co-ed leagues, and proof of the minimum required DUPR score is necessary to join the waitlist.
If you’re interested in playing DUPR matches and leagues without a long wait, you can fill out the APU DUPR League interest form to receive more information about upcoming DUPR days and leagues in 2024.
