The right pickleball bag depends on how much you carry. One paddle, a ball and a water bottle fit a sling. Two paddles, shoes and a change of shirt need a backpack with a separate shoe compartment. Tournament days with four or more paddles call for a tour bag or duffel. The chart below compares twelve bags across those types, six from the Pickleland shop and six that we do not carry, using only features the makers list on their own product pages as of October 9, 2026.

What to look for

Paddle storage

A paddle wants its own padded space so the face does not rub against keys, zippers or another paddle’s edge guard. Bags handle it three ways: a dedicated sleeve or pouch (Selkirk Core Tour, Selkirk sling, both totes), a full paddle compartment (the JOOLA Tour Elite bags, CRBN Tour Bag), or just a large main compartment (Selkirk Core Team, JOOLA Agassi Vision II). Count how many paddles you actually bring before you pay for space you will not use.

Thermal lining

Several makers line the paddle space. JOOLA says the Tour Elite’s compartments protect “paddles from heat and moisture,” and CRBN says the sling’s lining protects paddles from heat. In Central Texas that is relevant for one reason: the trunk of a parked car. A lined pocket buys time. It does not make a hot car a good place to store a paddle, and heat is one of the things covered in our guide to when to replace your pickleball paddle.

Shoe compartment

If you change into court shoes at the club, which is the easiest way to keep soles clean and non-marking for indoor courts, you want them walled off from your shirt and grips. Look for the word “ventilated” or “vented.” The Selkirk Core Tour, both JOOLA Vision II backpacks, the CRBN Tour Bag and the Selkirk duffle all list one. The JOOLA Tour Elite bags use a separate shoe bag inside the main section instead. See our pickleball shoe guide for what to put in it.

Fence hook

A hook or clip hangs the bag off the ground on a court fence. Selkirk lists a “clip for hanging on a fence” on both Core Line backpacks, and CRBN lists coated metal fence hooks on the sling and the Tour Bag that tuck away when not in use. It matters most on outdoor public courts. At an indoor club you will usually have a bench or cubby.

Size and carry style

  • Sling: one strap, fast on and off, limited room.
  • Backpack: the default. Weight sits on both shoulders, and most have a laptop sleeve.
  • Tote: open shape, looks least like a sports bag, easiest to overpack.
  • Duffel or tour bag: the most volume. Some convert to a backpack with hideaway straps.

Bags in the Pickleland shop

These are the bags in the Pickleland shop. Each card shows the current price and availability.

Selkirk calls the Core Line Tour Bag “the largest backpack in the Core Line.” Its page lists a dedicated pouch for up to two paddles, a ventilated shoe compartment, an insulated food and drink pouch, a 15-inch laptop sleeve and a fence clip, at 14 by 11 by 20.5 inches. We also carry it in black.

The Core Line Team Bag is three inches narrower. Selkirk lists a large main compartment for multiple paddles, three internal zip pockets, mesh water bottle pockets, a hard EVA top with a phone pocket, and the same fence clip. Its page does not list a shoe compartment, so choose the Tour if you carry shoes.

JOOLA’s Agassi Vision II is a straightforward backpack: a main compartment that fits paddles and daily items, a ventilated shoe compartment, and a hidden zippered pocket for keys and a phone. JOOLA pitches it for “court-to-office transitions.”

The standard Vision II adds a padded laptop sleeve and an adjustable side mesh pocket for a water bottle to the same ventilated shoe partition.

The Tour Elite Pro is the big one: JOOLA lists a backpack-to-duffle design, 66.4 liters, dual wipeable thermal compartments for up to four paddles, and a main section with a shoe bag.

The Tour Elite is the 45-liter version, with hideaway shoulder straps, two thermal paddle compartments, an interior snap-closure shoe bag and a hidden valuables pocket. JOOLA describes it as “carry-on and checked travel compliant.”

Slings

The CRBN Pro Team Sling Bag is the more protective of the two. CRBN lists a thermal-lined main compartment for multiple paddles, thermal-lined expandable side pockets, a water-resistant outer shell, clips on both sides so you can wear it on either shoulder, and a coated metal fence hook that stores in its own pouch. CRBN says it also fits a 14-inch laptop.

The Selkirk Core Line Pickleball Sling Bag is the minimal option. Selkirk lists a padded paddle pocket that “fits 1 paddle and a ball,” a water bottle pocket, a back mesh pocket for a phone, an inner security pocket, and convertible straps that unzip so it can be worn as a backpack. There is no fence hook on the feature list, only a grab handle.

Tour bags and duffels

CRBN describes the CRBN Pro Team Tour Bag 2.0 as having “enough space to carry up to 6 paddles” in two padded, thermal-lined side pockets, plus a vented shoe compartment, a thermal-lined top pocket that can work as a cooler, an underneath compartment for dirty clothes, and built-in fence hooks. A small sling bag zips off for days when you do not need everything.

The Selkirk Pro Line 2.0 Pickleball Duffle is a true duffel at 45 liters. Selkirk lists four internal magnetic paddle sleeves, a ventilated shoe chamber sized for up to a men’s 14, a front pocket with dividers for wallet, phone and keys, and a removable padded shoulder strap.

Totes

The JOOLA Everyday Tote Bag is unusual for a tote because JOOLA lists a separated shoe compartment along with a slip-in paddle pocket, a water bottle holder and a padded laptop sleeve.

The CRBN Club Tote Bag leans toward work and travel. CRBN lists a PU leather body, a padded, insulated interior sleeve that “fits a paddle or a standard laptop,” a zip-top closure, magnetic exterior pouches, an interior zip security pocket and a trolley sleeve that slides over a luggage handle.

FAQ

Do I need a pickleball bag?

Not at first. A paddle cover and any gym bag will do. A pickleball bag earns its keep once you carry court shoes, a second paddle or a few balls, because it keeps those from scratching each other. For the rest of the kit, see our pickleball accessories list.

How many paddles should a bag hold?

Plan for one more than you own, so a backup has somewhere to go. On this list, the Selkirk sling is listed for one paddle and the CRBN sling for multiple; the JOOLA Tour Elite Pro and Selkirk duffle are listed for four, and the CRBN Tour Bag for up to six.

Is a sling or a backpack better?

A sling if you bring a paddle, a ball and a bottle. A backpack if you bring shoes. Neither sling on this list has a shoe compartment on its feature list.

Will a pickleball bag fit an elongated paddle?

Check the bag’s listed dimensions against your paddle’s length. Paddle lengths for everything we stock are in our paddle specs table.

Is a pickleball bag a good gift?

Yes, because it does not depend on swing style or grip size the way a paddle does. More ideas are in our pickleball gift guide.
