PING PONG FAQ

Ping pong, answered.

Where can I play ping pong near me in Austin? +

At Pickleland, 21427 Martin Lane in Pflugerville (North Austin). We have a tournament-grade JOOLA table open every day — drop in or reserve it in the app. We're minutes from Pflugerville, Round Rock and the Domain, and an easy drive from Cedar Park, Hutto and Georgetown.

How much does ping pong cost? +

Open play is $5/hour per person for guests, and free for Pickleland members. Paddles and balls are available to rent on-site, so you can just show up and play.

Can beginners and families play? +

Absolutely. We welcome first-timers and families — paddles are available to rent and our staff is happy to show you the basics. Open play runs daily for casual and competitive players alike.

Can I rent ping pong tables for an event? +

Yes. Ping pong is a hit at corporate mixers, team outings and parties. You can add ping pong to a private booking through our corporate events or party rentals — we'll handle the setup.

What's the difference between pickleball and ping pong? +

Ping pong (table tennis) is played on a 9-foot table with small paddles and a light hollow ball, while pickleball is played on a court with larger paddles and a perforated plastic ball over a net. Both are fast, social and easy to learn — and you can do both at Pickleland.

How do you hold a ping pong paddle? +

Most players use the "shakehand" grip: hold the handle as if you're shaking hands, rest your index finger along the bottom edge of the rubber and place your thumb on the opposite side. It's the most versatile, beginner-friendly grip for both forehand and backhand shots.

Does playing ping pong burn calories? +

Yes — a casual hour of ping pong burns roughly 200–350 calories depending on your intensity and body weight, and competitive play burns more. It's a genuine workout for your reflexes, footwork and core.
