How to use the generator
- Pick a format. Rotating partners is the classic social round robin. Fixed teams keeps partners together all event. Singles is one against one.
- Add names, one per line — or type a number and hit Fill for Player 1, Player 2… In fixed-teams mode, each line is a team (for example "Ana & Ben").
- Set courts and rounds. Auto picks a sensible length and, where it can, a round count that gives everyone the same number of byes.
- Generate. Don't like the draw? Shuffle keeps your players and settings but deals a new schedule.
- Play and score. Enter scores as games finish and the standings rank everyone live. Print a copy for the wall, paste the text into your group chat, or send the share link so everyone sees the same schedule.
How to run a pickleball round robin
Choose the format for the crowd. Rotating partners is best for socials, clinics and mixed levels: you play with and against lots of people and nobody gets stuck with one partner. Fixed teams suits a league night or a doubles event where pairs signed up together. Singles works for small groups and ladder-style play.
Fill your courts, then plan for byes. Each doubles court takes four players and each singles court two. When the numbers don't divide evenly, somebody sits out each round. This generator rotates byes so nobody sits twice before everyone has sat once, and it tries not to bench the same person two rounds running.
Agree on game length before the first serve. A common choice is one game to 11, win by 2, per round. If you are squeezed for court time, cap games at a time limit or play to a lower score so every court finishes close together and the next round can start on time. Unsure how scoring works? Rank by wins, then point differential. In rotating-partner play, everyone earns their own record from every game they play. Ties on wins are broken by point differential (points won minus points lost), then by total points. Players with an extra bye have one fewer game, so compare win percentage if the byes ended up uneven.
Want a playoff? Round robin into a bracket is a popular event format: play the round robin as pool play, then seed the top finishers into a short knockout — with four teams, 1 plays 4 and 2 plays 3, and the winners meet in the final. Round robin FAQ
Is there a free way to generate a round robin schedule? +
Yes. This pickleball round robin generator is free with no signup or app: enter your players, choose the number of courts and a format, and it builds a full schedule in your browser. You can enter scores for live standings, print it, copy it as text for a group chat, or share a link that opens the same schedule.
How do you create a round robin pickleball tournament? +
Decide the format (rotating partners, fixed teams or singles), count your players and courts, and pick how many rounds fit your court time. Generate a schedule that gives everyone a fair share of games and byes, post or share it, play one game per round, record each score, and rank players by wins and then point differential.
Is there a free pickleball bracket generator available? +
This tool builds the round robin (pool play) part for free and ranks everyone by wins and point differential as scores come in. Many events then take the top finishers into a short playoff: with four teams, seed 1 plays 4 and 2 plays 3, and the winners meet in the final.
How many rounds should a pickleball round robin be? +
With fixed teams or singles, a complete round robin where everyone meets everyone once takes one round fewer than the number of teams (or one round per team if the count is odd), provided you have enough courts. With rotating partners there is no fixed end point, so plan around your court time. The generator picks a sensible default and, where it can, a round count that gives everyone the same number of byes.
How are byes handled when the numbers don't divide evenly? +
When there are more players than court spots, the generator sits out whoever has sat the least so far, so nobody sits twice before everyone has sat once and bye counts never differ by more than one. It also tries not to sit the same person two rounds in a row.
How many players do you need for a doubles round robin? +
At least four. Each court holds four players, so multiples of four per court mean nobody sits out. Any other number works too: five players on one court is a classic format where one person sits each round and everyone partners with everyone else.
Rather just show up and play?
Pickleland has 9 indoor courts in Pflugerville, 15 miles north of downtown Austin. Drop in to open play, join a league, or come to a social like Bollywood Night, where round-robin play means you switch partners all evening. Running your own event? Book courts and bring this schedule.
