An elongated pickleball paddle is about 16.5 inches long and 7.5 inches wide, half an inch longer and half an inch narrower than a classic 16 by 8 inch paddle. You get more reach and more leverage on drives and serves, and you pay for it with a heavier swing and a face that twists more on off-centre hits. Of the elongated paddles we stock, the Slapp Life SHO is the longest at 16.75 inches, Selkirk’s elongated shapes have the longest handle at 5.8 inches, and the Avoura Revaya has the lowest published swing weight at 112.
We do not lab-test paddles. Every number below is the maker’s own published spec, and each pick is here because of a specific number on that spec sheet.

What elongated means in inches
“Elongated” is a maker’s label, not a rulebook term. Among the paddles we stock, every one a maker calls elongated is published at 16.5 inches long and between 7.375 and 7.5 inches wide.
The shape exists because of a size limit. USA Pickleball’s 2026 Official Rulebook, Rule 3.D.2, caps the combined length and width of a paddle at 24 inches, including any edge guard and butt cap, and caps length alone at 17 inches (USA Pickleball rulebook, PDF). With 24 inches to spend, a maker who wants a longer paddle has to make it narrower: 16 by 8 becomes 16.5 by 7.5.
Nothing here reaches the 17 inch length cap. The longest paddle we stock, the Slapp Life SHO, is 16.75 inches long and 7.25 inches wide, which adds up to exactly 24. For how elongated compares with hybrid and widebody outlines, see pickleball paddle shapes explained.
The trade-off, in published numbers
Selkirk publishes swing weight and twist weight for both shapes of the same paddle, so you can see what the extra half inch costs with the core and face held constant.
- OMNI: widebody swing weight 112 and twist weight 7.9; elongated 118 and 6.9.
- LABS Project Boomstik 16mm: widebody 112 and 8.2; elongated 118 and 7.2.
- SLK ERA Power: widebody 109 and 7.3; elongated 118 and 6.6.
Swing weight is how heavy the paddle feels in motion, and a higher number is slower to get around in a hands battle. Twist weight is resistance to turning in your hand on an off-centre hit, and a lower number is less forgiving. In every pair the elongated version swings 6 to 9 points heavier and loses 0.7 to 1.0 of twist weight. That is the price of reach.
It is worth paying if you play singles, drive a lot from the baseline, hit a two-handed backhand, or came from tennis and want the paddle to feel longer in the hand. It is harder to justify if most of your points are won and lost in fast exchanges at the kitchen line.
The picks
1. Slapp Life SHO 14mm: the longest face
Slapp Life publishes the SHO at 16.75 by 7.25 inches with a 5.65 inch handle and a listed weight of 7.8 to 8.1 ounces. That is a quarter inch longer than anything else on our wall. The maker’s pitch is that the shape trims the parts of a standard face that go unused. Slapp Life does not publish a swing weight, so the only way to know how it moves is to swing it. The 16mm version shares the same published dimensions.
2. Selkirk OMNI Elongated: the longest handle
Selkirk’s elongated shapes carry a 5.8 inch handle, the longest published handle of any paddle we stock, on a 16.5 by 7.45 inch frame. If you want room for a second hand on the backhand, handle length is the spec to look at first. The OMNI Elongated lists at 7.9 to 8.2 ounces with a swing weight of 118 and a twist weight of 6.9, built on Selkirk’s PureFoam core with a 16mm thickness.
3. Selkirk LABS Project Boomstik Elongated: the most stable elongated
Same 16.5 by 7.45 inch outline and 5.8 inch handle as the OMNI, same published swing weight of 118, but a twist weight of 7.2. That is the highest published twist weight of any elongated paddle we stock, and it is higher than some widebodies. If the thing that worries you about going elongated is mishits near the edge, this is the number that addresses it. Listed weight is 8.0 to 8.3 ounces. We collected what independent reviewers found in our Selkirk Boomstik review roundup.
4. SLK Geo Elongated 14mm: full length, lighter swing
The Geo keeps Selkirk’s 16.5 by 7.45 inch outline and 5.8 inch handle but publishes a swing weight of 113, five points under the OMNI and Boomstik elongated shapes. It has a 14mm polypropylene honeycomb core and a T700 raw carbon fiber face, and lists at 7.8 to 8.1 ounces with a twist weight of 6.7. It is the approachable all-court paddle in this list, a sensible way to try the elongated shape without also taking on a 118 swing weight.
5. Avoura Revaya: the lightest-swinging elongated
Avoura publishes the Revaya at 16.5 by 7.5 inches with a 5.5 inch handle, a weight of 7.8 to 8.2 ounces and a swing weight of 112. That is the lowest published swing weight among our elongated paddles, and it matches the number Selkirk publishes for its OMNI and Boomstik widebodies. The cost shows up in twist weight, which Avoura lists at 5.83, the lowest in the chart. Quick through the air, less forgiving off-centre. Avoura describes it as built for reach, hard drives and two-handed backhands.
6. JOOLA Perseus Pro V 16mm: the reference shape
At 16.5 by 7.5 inches with a 5.5 inch handle, the Perseus is the textbook elongated outline, and JOOLA calls it its most popular shape. JOOLA lists the 16mm at 8.1 ounces and the 14mm at 7.9 ounces. JOOLA does not publish swing weight or twist weight, so we cannot rank it on those. It earns its place on dimensions and because the same outline comes in two thicknesses; our 13mm vs 16mm guide covers how to choose between them.
Two more with published numbers
Two other elongated-length paddles on our specs table publish swing weight. Luzz lists the Cannon at 16.54 by 7.48 inches with a swing weight of 121 and a twist weight of 6.2, the heaviest-swinging paddle in our data. Bread & Butter lists the Loco Elongated at 16.5 by 7.375 inches with a swing weight of 118 to 120 and a twist weight of 6.28. Both sit at the heavy end for players who want the most mass behind a drive.
How to compare two of these
Put any two or three into the paddle comparison tool and it lines up the full published spec sheets. The OMNI Elongated against the Revaya is a useful pair: same length, six points apart in swing weight, more than a full point apart in twist weight.
Keep in mind that each maker measures on its own equipment. A gap of a point or two between brands may not mean anything, while a gap between two shapes from the same brand is a like-for-like reading.
Then hit with them. A spec sheet narrows the list, and a demo paddle on a real court settles it.
FAQ
What is an elongated pickleball paddle?
A paddle that is longer and narrower than the classic 16 by 8 inch shape. The elongated paddles we stock are published at 16.5 inches long and 7.375 to 7.5 inches wide. The term is a maker’s label, not a rulebook definition.
How long can a pickleball paddle be?
17 inches, and length plus width cannot exceed 24 inches including the edge guard and butt cap, under Rule 3.D.2 of the 2026 USA Pickleball rulebook. Approval for sanctioned play is per model; see is my pickleball paddle legal.
Are elongated paddles harder to use?
They ask more of you. In Selkirk’s published specs the elongated version of each model swings 6 to 9 points heavier and has 0.7 to 1.0 less twist weight than the widebody version, which means slower hands and less forgiveness on off-centre contact.
Is an elongated paddle good for a two-handed backhand?
Often, because elongated shapes tend to have longer handles. Check the handle length, not the shape name: the published handles in our chart run from 5.5 to 5.8 inches, and some elongated paddles from other lines are shorter.
Can I make an elongated paddle more stable?
Yes. Lead tape on the edges at three and nine o’clock raises twist weight. Our swing weight calculator shows what a strip will do to swing weight and twist weight before you stick it on.
