Men’s pickleball shoes should be court shoes: low to the ground, stiff through the sidewall, and soled in rubber that suits the surface you play on. The eight models below are all sold in men’s sizing by the brand, and each feature in the chart comes from the maker’s own website, checked October 9, 2026. Pickleland does not wear-test footwear, so treat this as a map of what each brand says it built and who that suits.

Why running shoes are the wrong tool
A running shoe is designed around one motion repeated thousands of times in a straight line. ASICS says as much in its pickleball shoe guide: running shoes “are made for straight-line movement, which limits the support they provide when moving side-to-side.” A typical pickleball point is a split step, two shuffles, a hard plant and a push back the other way. On a tall foam midsole, that plant is where ankles go.
Court shoes are built differently in three places:
- The sidewall. Brands add a rigid wall, an outrigger that widens the base under the little toe, or a plastic shank through the arch. On this list that shows up as DYNAWALL (ASICS), a Plantar Support Chassis (K-Swiss), and an outsole outrigger with a TPU shank (Selkirk).
- The platform. Lower and flatter, so there is less height to tip over.
- The outsole and toe. Court rubber is cut for pivots and stops, and the toe is reinforced because you drag it on serves and lunges. That is why product pages talk about toe guards and drag-resistant rubber.
The harder you plant, the more those parts matter. For the general principles, our main pickleball shoe guide goes further into traction, materials and breathability.
Indoor vs outdoor outsoles
Outdoor pickleball is played on painted asphalt or concrete. That surface is abrasive, so outdoor-first shoes use hard, durable rubber. Indoor floors are smoother and easier on a sole, but harder on the floor’s owner: ASICS warns that “the tough rubber sole of outdoor shoes is likely to leave scuff marks on the hardwood court,” and recommends softer rubber for indoor play, noting it “will wear down more easily against asphalt.”
Pickleland is an indoor club and our FAQ asks for non-marking soles. What that means in practice:
- Read the page for “non-marking” or “indoor.” Diadem is the only maker here that states it outright. Babolat lists “All Court.” K-Swiss, Skechers, ASICS and Selkirk describe durability and grip but do not use the term on the pages we read.
- Run the paper test. Press the outsole edge onto white paper and drag. No streak, no problem.
- Split your pairs if you play both. A durable outdoor compound such as AHARPLUS or Goodyear Gold is exactly what you want on concrete. Keep a clean second pair for indoor nights so parking-lot grit never reaches the court.
- Volleyball and badminton shoes are fair game indoors. They are made for smooth floors and lateral movement. They wear out fast outside.
The 8 shoes
ASICS GEL-Renma
As an Amazon Associate, Pickleland earns from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you.
ASICS’s own guide names the ASICS GEL-Renma as its shoe “designed for multi-directional movement.” The men’s listing describes TRUSSTIC technology in the midsole to reduce twisting, a wrap-up outsole with flex grooves for sharp stops, forefoot GEL cushioning, and synthetic leather overlays for durability. ASICS also sells a GEL-Renma 2 with a no-sew mesh upper. If you are still playing in trainers, this is the straightforward upgrade.
ASICS GEL-Resolution X
The ASICS GEL-Resolution X is a tennis shoe built around stability. ASICS lists DYNAWALL technology in the midsole, now extended into the heel for lateral movement, AHARPLUS outsole rubber for durability, and forefoot GEL cushioning. It is the most support-focused shoe on this list by ASICS’s description, which suits players who plant hard. The outsole is a hard-court compound, so paper-test it before indoor play.
K-Swiss Express Light Pickleball
The K-Swiss Express Light Pickleball is described by K-Swiss as a “lightweight, breathable shoe built for players of all levels,” with a K-EVA midsole, a 180-degree Plantar Support Chassis, and an Aosta rubber outsole with DragGuard. K-Swiss sells it as a separate 2E model “with a more spacious toe box,” which matters more than any cushioning claim if standard-width court shoes pinch you.
K-Swiss Pickleball Supreme
One tier up, the K-Swiss Pickleball Supreme adds a Durawrap flex upper, Surge 7.0 cushioning and a DragGuard 7.0 outsole, per K-Swiss. Choose it over the Express Light if you tend to wear a hole in the toe or the medial side before the tread goes.
Skechers Viper Court Pro 2.0
The men’s Skechers Viper Court Pro 2.0 - Pickleball uses a Goodyear Gold compound outsole that Skechers says is “built for increased durability,” a rubber toe guard, ULTRA GO foam cushioning, and a removable Arch Fit insole with “podiatrist-certified arch support.” The removable insole is the practical feature: if you wear orthotics, they drop straight in.
Selkirk CourtStrike Pro 3.0 Men’s
Selkirk’s spec sheet for the Selkirk CourtStrike Pro 3.0 Men’s lists a “4-Way Grip” outsole with an outrigger for stability, a high-rebound midsole with a TPU shank, an engineered mesh upper, and a sculpted heel for “controlled lateral movement.” Selkirk backs the outsole with a 6-month warranty and lists the shoe in men’s 7 through 14 with half sizes, at 13.0 oz in a men’s 9. If you also play a Selkirk paddle, the Pickleland paddle shop carries the brand.
Babolat Jet Mach Pickleball Men
The Babolat Jet Mach Pickleball Men is the light option. Babolat lists a Matryx woven upper, a Michelin rubber outsole, KPRSX heel cushioning, an OrthoLite insole and rubber forefoot protection, at 325 g with a 10 mm drop and a surface type of “All Court.”
Diadem Court Burst
Diadem sells the Diadem Court Burst in paired men’s and women’s sizes. Its page describes a stretch knit upper, a “Max Shield toe guard,” a dual-layer EVA foam midsole and a high-abrasion rubber outsole that “grips without marking court surfaces,” and says it is “built for both indoor and outdoor use.” The Pickleland shop has one pair, a women’s 8, which you will find in the women’s shoe guide.
Sizing notes for men
- Width first. If your little toe hangs over the outsole, the outrigger cannot do its job. Go to a 2E before you go up a half size.
- Thumb’s width at the toe. Hard stops drive the foot forward, and black toenails are a sizing problem, not a toughness badge.
- Lock the heel. Use the top eyelet. A heel that lifts on day one will lift on day ninety.
- Weight is a trade. The stable shoes here are heavier. Lighter shoes feel quicker and give up some structure.
FAQ
Are men’s pickleball shoes different from tennis shoes?
Not in any way that should stop you buying a tennis shoe. Both are court shoes built for lateral movement. The GEL-Resolution X on this list is sold as a tennis shoe and does the same job.
What shoes should men wear for indoor pickleball?
A court shoe with a clean, non-marking outsole. Pickleball, tennis, volleyball and badminton shoes all qualify. Check the product page for “non-marking” or “indoor,” or do the white-paper test.
Can I play pickleball in basketball shoes?
Basketball shoes are made for lateral movement on indoor floors, so they are a better stopgap than running shoes. They are heavier and taller than most players want for a full session.
How long do pickleball shoes last?
It depends on your weight, how often you play and the surface. Replace them when the tread under the forefoot is smooth, the midsole stays creased, or your foot starts sliding inside the shoe on a hard cut.
