The best pickleball shoe for most women is a court shoe, not a running shoe: one with a sidewall that holds the foot during side-to-side cuts and an outsole that will not scuff an indoor floor. The eight below are all sold in women’s sizing by the brand itself, and every feature listed comes from the maker’s own website, checked October 9, 2026. Pickleland does not wear-test shoes, so this is a guide to what each brand says it built, not a ranking.

Court shoe vs running shoe

Running shoes are built to go forward. ASICS puts it plainly in its own pickleball shoe guide: “many running shoes are made for straight-line movement, which limits the support they provide when moving side-to-side.” Pickleball is mostly side-to-side. You shuffle along the kitchen line, plant, and push back the other way, and a tall, soft running midsole gives your ankle a long way to roll when you do.

A court shoe changes three things:

  • Lateral support. A firmer sidewall, an outrigger, or a midfoot shank keeps the foot over the sole when you cut. ASICS calls it “reinforced side walls”; Selkirk calls its version a heel cockpit. The idea is the same.
  • A flatter, lower platform. Less stack height under the heel means less leverage on the ankle.
  • A court outsole. Rubber shaped for stopping and pivoting, usually with extra material at the toe where court players drag.

If you want the longer version, our main pickleball shoe guide covers support, traction and materials in more detail, and what to wear to pickleball covers the rest of the outfit.

Indoor vs outdoor outsoles

Outdoor courts are usually painted asphalt or concrete, which sands rubber down. Shoes built for that use a hard, abrasion-resistant compound. Indoor floors are smoother, and the concern flips: the floor needs protecting from the shoe. ASICS’s guide notes that “the tough rubber sole of outdoor shoes is likely to leave scuff marks on the hardwood court,” and suggests softer rubber indoors, with the trade-off that soft rubber “will wear down more easily against asphalt.”

Pickleland is an indoor club, and our FAQ asks for non-marking soles. So for play here:

  • Look for the words “non-marking” or “indoor” on the product page or the sole itself. Of the eight shoes below, only Diadem states it outright; Babolat lists its shoe for “All Court” and Selkirk calls InfiniGrip a multi-surface grip system.
  • If a shoe does not say, test it. Drag the edge of the sole firmly across a sheet of white paper. If it leaves a streak, it will leave one on a court.
  • Keep a pair for indoor use only. Grit carried in from a parking lot is what makes a clean sole slip and a floor scratch.

The 8 shoes

Diadem Court Burst

As an Amazon Associate, Pickleland earns from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you.

This is the one court shoe in the Pickleland shop, and the pair on the shelf is a women’s 8. Diadem’s product page describes a “360° stretch knit upper,” a “Max Shield toe guard,” a dual-layer Impact EVA foam midsole, and a high-abrasion rubber outsole that “grips without marking court surfaces.” It also says the shoe is “built for both indoor and outdoor use” for tennis and pickleball. That makes it the only shoe on this list where the maker puts the non-marking claim in writing. For other sizes, the Diadem Court Burst is sold in paired men’s and women’s sizing.

ASICS GEL-Renma

The ASICS GEL-Renma is the model ASICS’s own pickleball guide describes as “designed for multi-directional movement.” The women’s listing names TRUSSTIC technology in the midsole, which ASICS says reduces twisting during lateral moves, a wrap-up outsole with flex grooves, and GEL cushioning in the forefoot. ASICS also sells a GEL-Renma 2 with a no-sew mesh upper. It is a sensible first step up from running shoes.

ASICS GEL-Resolution X

The ASICS GEL-Resolution X is a tennis shoe, and tennis shoes transfer directly to pickleball because the footwork is the same. ASICS lists DYNAWALL technology, which now extends into the heel for stability in lateral movement, AHARPLUS outsole rubber for durability, and forefoot GEL cushioning. ASICS notes the women’s version has a more spacious fit than earlier Resolutions. AHARPLUS is a hard-wearing compound, so run the paper test before you take a pair onto an indoor floor.

K-Swiss Express Light Pickleball

K-Swiss lists the K-Swiss Express Light Pickleball with a synthetic leather upper, a “180-degree Plantar Support Chassis” for stability, and an Aosta rubber outsole with DragGuard, which K-Swiss says “ensures lasting durability.” The reason it is here is the width option: K-Swiss sells a separate women’s wide version. A foot spilling over the edge of the sole defeats the lateral support you bought the shoe for.

K-Swiss Pickleball Supreme

The K-Swiss Pickleball Supreme is the brand’s step-up model. Per K-Swiss, it adds a Durawrap flex upper for “precision fit and enhanced protection,” Surge 7.0 cushioning, and a DragGuard 7.0 outsole. If you wear through the toe of your shoes before the tread, the wrapped upper is the feature to pay attention to.

Skechers Viper Court Pro 2.0

Skechers’ women’s Skechers Viper Court Pro 2.0 has a Goodyear Gold compound rubber outsole, a rubber toe guard, ULTRA GO foam cushioning, and a removable Arch Fit insole that Skechers describes as having “podiatrist-certified arch support.” Because the insole comes out, you can also swap in your own orthotic.

Selkirk Legacy Pro Women’s

Selkirk says the Selkirk Legacy Pro Women’s is built on a “gender-specific foot mold (last) for women’s sizing” rather than a scaled-down men’s shape. The outsole is InfiniGrip, a cast polyurethane that Selkirk says “grips aggressively on any court surface.” The page also lists a mesh upper with a gusseted tongue, an EVA PureFoam midsole and a sculpted heel “cockpit” for lateral cuts. Selkirk recommends ordering a half size up.

Babolat Jet Mach Pickleball Women

The Babolat Jet Mach Pickleball Women pairs a Matryx upper, which Babolat describes as a “unique woven material of PAHT and Aramid yarn,” with a Michelin rubber outsole. Babolat’s spec sheet lists the surface type as “All Court” and a 10 mm drop. It is the pick for players who value a light, close-fitting shoe over heavy cushioning.

How to check the fit

  • Try them on late in the day with the socks you play in. Feet swell.
  • Leave about a thumb’s width in front of your longest toe. Hard stops at the kitchen line push your foot forward.
  • Do a side shuffle in the store or your living room. Your foot should stay on top of the sole. If the upper bulges over the edge, go wider, not longer.
  • Heel lift is a deal-breaker. A slipping heel does not break in.

FAQ

Can women wear men’s pickleball shoes?

Yes, if the shape fits. A men’s shoe that is too roomy in the heel will slip, so judge it by fit, not by the label. Diadem lists the Court Burst in paired men’s and women’s sizes, and Selkirk goes the other way with a women’s-specific last on the Legacy Pro. Our men’s pickleball shoe guide covers the men’s versions of several models here.

Are tennis shoes fine for pickleball?

Yes. Tennis shoes are built for the same lateral cuts and hard stops. The ASICS GEL-Resolution X on this list is a tennis shoe. For indoor play, check that the outsole does not mark.

What shoes work on indoor pickleball courts?

Any court shoe with a clean, non-marking sole. Indoor court shoes from volleyball or badminton also work well on smooth floors. Running shoes and anything with a black sole that streaks on the paper test should stay off the court.

Do I need new shoes before my first game?

No. Come in the athletic shoes you own, as long as the soles are clean and non-marking, and buy court shoes once you are playing regularly. Paddles are a similar story: you can demo a paddle at the club before you buy one.

How often should I replace pickleball shoes?

When the tread under the ball of the foot is smooth, the midsole creases stay compressed, or the upper has stretched enough that your foot slides on a hard cut.
